Coexist or Live As One: Choosing Tolerance or Unity

The idea for this post was inspired by a bumper sticker I saw on the back of a mini-van as I was driving to church this morning.  You’ve probably seen the same bumper sticker; it say’s COEXIST, and it is written with symbols from different systems of thought that resemble and replace the letters of the alphabet that would actually spell the word: coexist1The Crescent and Star for Islam; the Pentagram for Wicca; the relativity formula for science; the Star of David for Judaism; the Karma Wheel dotting the I for Buddhism; the Ying and Yang for Taoism; the Holy Cross for Christianity.  I don’t know what you think when you see these symbols placed next to each other in this way to give rise to this message; you may feel that it is a great message, or you may feel otherwise.

Here are a couple of statements I found while I was searching the internet to get an idea of the range of thoughts about this message: “I honestly believe that it’s possible for many belief systems to coexist if they try and I think that more people need to see that,” on one end of the scale and, “You can try for toleration.  That is a goal we can have concerning religion.  But both Islam and Christianity have as part of their faith the commission to convert the whole world.  Coexistence implies you do not try and convert; you just live side by side.  This movement is in my opinion just a weak liberal theological movement tied to a desire for peace.  The desire for peace is good.  But you cannot coexist in the way the COEXIST Foundation talks about without watering down your theology.  So, don’t support them.”

While neither of these statements reflects my views on this idea, the first one does come a lot closer.  I feel more closely aligned with Mahatma Gandhi’s statement, “I am a Christian and a Hindu and a Muslim and a Jew.”  Feel free to throw the religion of your choice in to that statement for me.  If it is a monotheistic teaching of any sort, at its core, more than likely it somehow points to the Truth that God is all there is and we are all one because we are all expressions of God.

I see God as the One Omniscient, Omnipotent and Omnipresent Creator, and as the One Life, Love, Light, Power, Peace, Beauty, Joy, Spirit, Truth, Source, Mind and Intelligence of all.  I believe that some monotheistic religions may have been misunderstood and/or misinterpreted over time, but are rooted in the same recognition.

Thusly, I believe that all of mankind is One in Spirit.  The separation and differences that are sensed and felt by so many come from the misconceived notion that being born in different places, speaking different languages or having different physical features separate us and make us different.  So, I don’t simply choose to tolerate others that look or speak different, or those that were born in different lands, or even those that seem to think differently; I recognize God in all of mankind, and live in the idea of oneness with everyone.  I choose to see the Truth, honor the Truth and celebrate the Truth of God in everyone by loving everyone as I love myself, regardless of how anyone else feels about or sees themselves, or me.  Although I appreciate the world learning tolerance and choosing it over hate, I have decided to choose Unity and Love over all.

Trust the Source for Everything

The cause of all of the problems that plague mankind is the habitual thought patterns of worry, anxiety, fear and doubt that most people live from.  Our thoughts are creative, and when we spend our time worrying about the events and circumstances of our lives, the Law of Cause and Effect has no choice but to give us something to justify our time spent worrying.  You, by way of your own thinking, are cause to your own experiences.

Being cause to your own experiences, learning to eliminate theses mental vices by trusting the Law to provide your good will allow you to enjoy life more fully.  There is no need to worry about anything you don’t want to be part of your life experience; in fact, we can take a lesson from Job, who so profoundly recognized, “For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.”  Living in fear brings to life that which we fear most.  The law is creative and acts on whatever we truly believe in, whether we accept this as true or not, whether we understand this or not.  This is why Jesus said to the centurion, “Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto you,” and why he later taught, “What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”

Unless you are actively attempting to change your mind about something, you have no problem believing what you believe in.  Your beliefs are the foundation of your day to day thinking, and therefore your day to day living.  The application of a conscious thought creating a belief, or the allowance of an unconscious thought creating a belief, makes no difference to the Law.  All the Law knows is to act on your beliefs.  It doesn’t care how the belief came about.

Knowing this, it is wise for you to choose what you give the Law to work with on your behalf.  Stop worrying and start trusting in the Goodness of Spirit to manifest perfectly as your experience.  Stop doubting that you can have what you want in life, and start knowing that you do.  Quit living in fear of disease and begin from this day forward to trust the Wholeness of God to reveal Itself through you.

The Law, through the Love of Spirit, is the way the Power of God creates through you, exactly as you believe.  Trust the Power to act as you direct it to, and begin to experience your heart’s desires instead of your minds delusions.

I put all of my trust in Infinite Spirit as the Law which always provides my every good and prospers me.

All I have seen teaches me to trust the creator for all I have not seen.

–Ralph Waldo Emerson

Inspired Prayer Treatment of the Day – 01/10/09

The Creative Energy of the Universe is Undeniable and Unfailing Good.  It is consistent in Its Kind, Loving and Giving aspect of Itself to all of Its creation through Itself.  It is the One Source and Supply.

My complete faith and trust in the Source insures all that I desire to be, have and experience is provided quickly, easily and effortlessly.  I know what I need to know when I need to know it.  I say what I need to say when I need to say it.  I do what I need to do when I need to do it, and I have what I need to have when I need to have it.  I demonstrate happiness, health and abundance in my body and the body of my affairs.  With the joyful conviction that the Source and Supply of my good always works in, through, as and by means of me to provide my every desire, I gratefully give thanks that my good is manifest now.  And so it is.

Your Limitless Good

worldinhands1One aspect of God is Its Limitless Nature.  It is Infinite in Its ability to create and in Its creative doings.  Spirit is immeasurable by the limited conscious awareness of you and me.  However, all of this creative Power is available to everyone all the time.  Our only limitations lie in our ability to grasp the idea of the totality of this Limitless Being.  All of God and all of Its Power are available to us all the time, but we can only have as much of that Power to use as we can embrace and embody.

Because the Nature of God is Limitless, and because you are an individualization of God in form, the nature of your being is limitless, although you have a limited ability to access the Power that expresses and experiences Itself through you.  Since God is Good and God is Limitless, God is Limitless Good, and because God is Limitless Good there is no limit to your good other than your limited ability to fully grasp the Infinite.

However, you have available to you all of the good you can conceive and whatever you can believe is true for you will become your experience.  This is why the statements, “As a man thinketh in his heart so is he,” and “If the mind can conceive it and the heart can believe it then you can achieve it,” are true.  The Infinite Power of God to create must and will create through you whatever and without limit all that you can conceive and believe for your self.  That is the truth about you and your limitless good.

Inspired Affirmation of the Day – 01/09/09

There is no lack in my mind, and no limit to my good.

Inspired Quote of the Day

In the great Mind of God there is no thought of lack, and such a thought has no rightful place in your mind.

–Charles Fillmore

Inspired Prayer Treatment of the Day

The Nature and Truth of the Universe is Infinite, Eternal and Abundant Creative Energy.  No one, no thing and no thought can stop this Universal Creative Energy from creating; so, It is the One Power which cannot be stopped, opposed or denied.  This Power is Limitless Good and It is the Truth of my being.  I have access to this Power.  I am One with this Power.  I am a Divine Manifestation of this Power.  I am this Power individualized in form as me.

I decide and choose how to direct this Power for Good in my life by my conscious selection of ideas and thoughts.  I always use this Power in the most beneficial way by my choice of the positive statements of Truth that I constantly declare in my mind and with my word.  I think the Truth, I speak the Truth and I live the Truth.  I blissfully give thanks as I recognize the Truth of my being, knowing that I am well provided by the One Power acting in me, with all I need to live a happy, healthy, prosperous and contented life.  And so it is.

Change Your Life

Choosing to make up your mind to be happy and fulfilled is the best thing you can do for yourself.  Any and all other ideas that you may have for wants, needs, desires, plans, dreams or goals will certainly actualize under this umbrella.

Once you choose to do the mental and spiritual work necessary to create the world you want, and stick with that choice, things will begin to change.  Where you lack, you will begin to experience abundance.  Where there is pain, you will be made whole.  Where there is sorrow, you will find joy.  It is only doubting that you can have more which is keeping you from having more, or faith in the idea that you can’t have more; however you look at it, it still looks like lack in your life.

Some people recommend that you do affirmations when you wake up in the morning, some say its best to do them before you go to sleep at night, and some say to do both.  I recommend that for any idea you truly want to actualize and manifest, you repeat your affirmations when you awaken, before going to sleep, and as much as possible throughout the day.

It is not possible to change a lifetime of thinking lack, into a consciousness of prosperity about anything, with one affirmation, followed by a series of those habitual old thoughts of lack that have always lived with you in the first place.  You must, as has been said, change your mind and keep it changed, to change your life.  The way to keep your mind changed is to develop a new thought pattern, and the way to develop a new thought pattern is with constant vigilance aided by the use of treatment and affirmations.

Its not rocket science, it’s a simple, easy to understand, tried and true method for changing your life by developing your faith in new ideas.  It does require some work on your part, a little mental effort.1827506GI31_E34575401  Muhammad Ali is quoted as saying, “I am the greatest!  I said that even before I knew I was.”

All of the potential of Life is in you, waiting for your recognition and direction.  Love yourself, be kind to yourself and support yourself by knowing something better about yourself.  It’s the greatest gift you can give.

Inspired Affirmation of the Day – 01/08/09

I am grateful to be happy, whole and deeply fulfilled in every aspect of my life; health, wealth, creative achievements, relationships and career.

Inspired Quote of the Day – 01/08/09

It’s the repetition of affirmations that leads to belief.  And once that belief becomes a deep conviction, things begin to happen.

–Muhammad Ali

Inspired Prayer Treatment of the Day – 01/08/09

There is One Creative Being, One Source, and One Infinite Good; This One is God, which is the One Spirit which must be thoughtfully revered in spirit and in truth.  The Love of God, operating through Its own Law of Good, constantly produces, supplies and provides all that is needed for the joyous, whole and fulfilling experience of Life throughout all of Its creation.

It is easy for me to keep my mind fixed and focused on the Truth of Spirit, and to know that I am always provided with all I want, need and desire to experience a joy filled life.  I love to keep my thoughts focused on my good, because I delight in the Law that so easily and effortlessly works through me to manifest the good I choose to see, believe in and have.  I gratefully acknowledge, accept and receive the good that the Law creates through me, as me, in me and by means of me now, as I release my word knowing it is done.  And so it is.

Count and Increase Your Blessings

The Law of Cause and Effect is the Law back of the Law of Attraction.  You attract to yourself what you think about and believe is real.  The more you think about something, the more energy you give it, thus the more the Law of Cause and Effect acts to actualize it as your experience.

This is why it is done unto you as you believe.  Your thought is creative; it is all Spirit has to work with to create your world, and the reason the New Thought teaching is, “Change your thinking – change your life.”

Subsequently, spending most of your waking day dwelling on ideas of lack and limitation, then saying an affirmation for abundance once or twice is not going to do much to change your experience of lack to one of abundance.  However, if you are experiencing lack in any area of your life, then treat and affirm your abundance instead, and keep your focus on your new thought about abundance, you will eventually change the pattern of your thinking and therefore you will change your life.bless1

To do this despite what you see when you look at the world around you may take a lot of work; in fact, it usually does.  For a person to have grown up in poverty and learn to develop a prosperity consciousness takes some effort takes some doing, but it can be done.  There are many people that have done this, and some are stellar examples of this idea, such as Oprah Winfrey.

Some people have completely healed themselves of incurable diseases such as cancer or tuberculosis, and lived long, healthy lives, sometimes for many happy years after their diagnosis.  People like Phineas Parkhurst Quimby (known as the founder of New Thought) and Louise L. Hay (best selling author and founder of Hay House Publishing) come to mind.

Nothing is impossible if you believe.  The way to learn to believe in a new idea is to focus on what you want as if you already actually have it, living in the joy an gratitude that comes naturally from having received it.

Inspired Affirmation of the Day – 01/07/09

I am ever grateful for and keep my thoughts fixed on my blessings and the Universe blesses me with more and more to be grateful for each day.

Inspired Prayer Treatment of the Day – 01/07/09

I open my thoughts to Absolute First Cause, Infinite Love, and Abundant Supply, aware that It is God.  Abundant Supply is Unfailing and Limitless Good, prospering through all.  I am well-provided for It blesses and prospers me always.  I am one with my good for I am one with the All Good and I am generously blessed by Life.  I focus my awareness on my blessings all throughout the day and I see my bountiful blessings spread, grow and multiply.

As I count my blessings and acknowledge the Source that continually bestows my good, I receive more and more.  Filled with gratitude and thanksgiving that I am continually blessed with all of the wonderful good in my life; loving, supportive relationships with my family and friends, hearty, healthy and delicious food to eat, safe, reliable transportation, a wonderful, comfortable home to live in, a prosperous, satisfying and fulfilling career, and radiant health, I say thank you God that lives and provides through me.  And so it is.

Heal Yourself with Your Christ Consciousness

blueThe premise and foundation of all New Thought understanding is that God is all there is.  Nothing exists except God exists in it and as it.  It is the Infinite Intelligence of God living, moving and acting in and through all form that creates and gives rise to form.  Therefore, the nature of all there is, and necessarily then, the nature of man is Divine.  The physical universe and all that exists in it is the body of God.

Man is the highest form of God that exists.  Throughout all creative manifestation, only man is equipped with consciousness of self and self knowingness.  Although the consciousness of God is present throughout all of Life, and God is conscious of Itself throughout all of Its creation, It is only man that can be aware and conscious of himself as being what he is.  Throughout the mineral, plant and animal kingdoms, only man can say, “I am.”

Only man can think and reason inside of an automatic, instinctual desire to live.  Only man, through this ability, can select and initiate thoughts and ideas that create the circumstances, conditions and experiences of his livingness.  This is how man is made in the image and likeness of God and how man has dominion over all other living things, great and small.

It is for this reason that only man can recognize his own Divinity; his oneness with all form, and his Oneness with the Infinite, Immortal, Eternal, creative Spirit.  Jesus recognized this Divinity in himself and in all of mankind.  From Jesus’ recognition comes the idea of the Christ or Divine Son.

Jesus clearly taught that all of mankind possessed this Divinity and shared in the Sonship of the Father.  As Emmet Fox points out in his treatise on “The Lord’s Prayer,” Jesus did not teach his listeners to pray to his Father.  Instead he said, “After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.”  Does the terminology indicate to you that Jesus believed that he was the “only” son, or that we all are part of the Sonship?  If we all have the same Father, it must be true that we are all brothers. In the story of his rising from the dead, it is reported that Jesus said to Mary Magdalene, “. . . go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.”  Again, does this sound like Jesus is himself claiming to be God’s one and only son?  As Meister Eckhart stated, “For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten son, but God is forever begetting His only begotten.”  This is because God is always creating Itself in form.

Furthermore, Jesus himself, when accused of blasphemy for making himself God, replied to his accusers, “Is it not written in your law, and did I not say, ‘Ye are gods’?”

When we realize the Truth of our being, and say as Jesus said, “The Father and I are one,” and “It is not me, but the Father within me that does the work,” then we begin to shape our own destiny because we consciously become co-creators with God.  It is in living from this recognition of our oneness with God, our recognition that all of humankind is one with God, and in knowing that the Power of God within us acting through an immutable Law of Cause and Effect does the work, that we develop our Christ Consciousness.

The Christ Consciousness is the consciousness that Jesus developed within himself to heal, and the consciousness that Jesus sought to teach the world to develop.  The Christ Consciousness is your Power to heal yourself and those around you of all conditions of lack, sorrow, discord and disease.

This Power is present everywhere, it is with you now; it always has been and always will be.  It is yours to use when you need to use it, in the way you need to use it, as much as you need to use it.  It is the God in you, speaking to you saying, “Behold, I am with you always.”

Inspired Affirmation of the Day – 01/06/09

I am, I have and I use the Power of God to heal myself.  I am the living embodiment of Christ, the loving, healing, saving grace of God that lives in me, and I see myself as perfect now, even as the Father within me is Perfect.

Inspired Quote of the Day – 01/06/09

It is the nature of God to be always begetting himself in the soul.

–Meister Eckhart

Inspired Prayer Treatment of the Day – 01/06/09

God is the Alpha and the Omega; the beginning and the end.  God is that which has no beginning and has no end; the circle of which the center is everywhere and the circumference is nowhere.  God is that Invisible Power which moves, lives and has Its being everywhere. It is the kind, supportive, loving Father of all, which creates all there is in all and through all.

The Father and I are One.  My thought and my word is creative, as the Father in me does the work to create through me from the word I speak.  I speak my word now for perfect, abundant and radiant health, knowing that made in the image and likeness of God; I am Perfect, Whole and Complete.  I declare that I am perfect even as my Father in heaven is Perfect.  There is no disease, discomfort or discord in the Mind of God; so, no disease, discomfort or discord exists in me.  I reject the appearance that seems to oppose the Truth I speak, and I know that any idea that seems to be opposed to this Truth is obliterated now.  I am active and busy living my life to the fullest.  I am grateful and joyous that the Divine Spirit has acted on my word and revealed Its Perfection in me as I release my word and let it be so.  And so it is.

Begin With The End In Mind

1gg3When I trust the Law to do the work which produces my good, I trust It beyond any doubt.  This means I don’t worry about how the Law works, or how It will make things happen: I just trust It.  We like to remind ourselves that this is the simple way to get things done; let the Law do the work while all the time knowing that “how is none of our business.”

How does the sun continue to shine?  I don’t know how, I just trust that it does.  How do the planets stay in place?  I don’t know how, I just trust that they do.  How does the grass keep growing, how does the sky stay blue, how does a seed become a tree?

There is an Infinite Intelligence which we can not fully know but can tap into that knows how.  It knows what to do, when to do it and how to do it, to make, provide, supply and produce whatever I want, need or desire all the time.  My job is to know and to trust.  I only have to know what I want and trust that I am provided with it.

The Law may work in ways that we can see and explain the circumstances which led to our demonstrations of good, or in ways which we could never figure out, not less explain, but as long as we have faith that It works, it will work.

This isn’t just about getting things; it’s about changing any of an infinite number of circumstances, conditions or experiences in your life.  Any aspect of your life that you want to improve, or any idea you have about something you’ve never experienced before is achievable when you develop the faith that Spirit works through you as you believe it does.  Whether it’s a new outfit, a greater relationship or a physical healing, the Law woks as you believe.

Just don’t worry about how it will happen.  Begin the process of developing faith in what you want with the end in mind, knowing that it is already secure, and it will show up.

Inspired Affirmation of the Day – 01/05/09

Life moves me swiftly in the direction of my dreams, for I begin with the end in mind and know before I start that I have reached my destination.

Inspired Quote of the Day – 01/05/09

If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with success unexpected in common hours.

Inspired Prayer Treatment of the Day – 01/05/09

The One Mind gives rise to all creation.  This Mind is the Mind of God which possesses and bestows all the Power there is to produce each and every thing that exists in form or the realm of possibilities.  There is One Infinite Intelligence which permeates the Universe; This One is the Mind of God.  There is One Thinker, One Knower and One Doer, which states, knows and does all; This One is the Mind of God.

My mind is my individualized use of the One Mind.  As I think, I think into the Absolute Infinite Knowingness of God Mind, which by It’s own Law responds to and moves through me to produce my thought in form.  I have the power to decide what I want.  I select and initiate my idea based on my own decision.  I begin with the end in my mind, and it is known in the Mind everywhere.  I am confident that the Law moves on my word to make manifest the form which is equal to it.  I have my good.  I release my word and give thanks that the end is secure now.  And so it is.
